ROHM now offers a high efficiency, high power factor isolated high power LED driver module. The BP5870 includes a PFC circuit and utilizes a pseudo-resonance method for direct AC connection for LED drive, facilitating LED lighting solutions. In addition, the unit meets market needs with a universal input and LED open/short protection circuit.

Key Feature 1 : PFC circuit built in for a power factor of 0.99

Power factor is heavily influenced by the resistance loss through the power supply and transformer lines. The BP5870 features an active filter method with integrated PFC circuit, resulting in a power factor of 0.99. This ensures compatibility with harmonics as well as compliance with IEC61000-3-2.

Key Feature 2 : Direct AC connection simplifies LED drive

Developing LED lighting involves a number of considerations, including power supply/housing design and LED layout. The BP5870 integrates an AC/DC converter, PFC circuit, and DC/DC converter, simplifying power supply and thermal designs along with circuit pattern.

BP5870 utilizes a low-noise, high efficiency pseudo-resonance switching method that minimizes switching loss across the switching MOSFET for 83% efficiency.
